SASCE Board representative of organized business Thami Skenjana is an Entrepreneur who has been actively involved in the Wholesale/Retail Industry for the past 35 years. He is the founding President of Southern African National Co-operatives Council. SANCOC Led the conceptualization of Rural and Township Economies Revitalization Programme for SETAs in Partnership with UIF. He joined the board of the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education Training Authority (W&RSETA) in 2001, Became Deputy Chairperson of the SETA in 2005 and subsequently became Chairperson of the SETA Board in 2007. Currently a founder member of the W&RSETA Industry Qualifications Management Board Committee and leads with DIRCO SA Cities Twinning Partnerships through Embassies SA offices e.g. Toronto City in Canada. DST- SANCOC Science Centres to benefit Operation Phakisa Programme. Thami with South African Qualification Authority CEO and Fibre Processing and Manufacturing Sector Education Training Authority CEO have successfully established FP&MSETA Digital Khetha Career Portal with Learner Management System for Work Integrated Learning.
He also developed and Chaired National Skills Fund (NSF) Project RAVE (Retrenchees and Victory to Entrepreneurs), a W&RSETA project that was funded by the National Skills Fund. He was a member of 2005 DTI Committee to the DTI simple summary guide for the South African Co- operatives Act No 14 of 2005.SANCOC is an African Business Policy Council that in 2015 led the establishment of the Gauteng Provincial SMME Industry Forum with the Premier’s Provincial Skills Development Forum and incorporated SANCOC Provincial Services Industry / Gas Petroleum Work Integrated Learning Co-operatives Limited.
Thami is an active member of the following forums: the SAQA Standard Generating Body for the Wholesale & Retail Sector (currently W&RSETA Industry Qualification Management Board Committee in collaboration with Quality Council for Trade Occupations), Chairperson Gauteng SMME Industry Forum. Gauteng Provincial Skills Development Forum and Provincial Human Resource Development Forums. He is a founder member of National Black Business Caucus (NBBC) in Limpopo Mopane District 1993, became member of the Presidential Black Business Working Group. He is Black Business Council (BBC) Education Skills Portfolio Committee member & Development Chamber Business Convener for social dialogue in the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC).
